Often a car collision can be very traumatic. Those involved in car accidents are often injured, sometimes seriously. After an accident, victims may seek compensation from those responsible.
Recently, six people were injured in a rollover accident in Chicago. A van was speeding down the road when it hit an SUV and rolled over. There were three people in the van when the accident occurred. All three individuals survived and where taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The three individuals in the SUV were also taken to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. It was reported that each car sustained serious damage. Also, investigators do not believe that alcohol was a factor and have not issued any citations at this point in time.
When a person is injured in a car accident, his or her life is often turned upside down. The victim may suffer serious medical bills and a loss of income. Victims can seek compensation for their financial losses. Sometimes this involves filing a civil lawsuit against those responsible for the accident.
The victim of the accident must prove that another person was negligent and that the person’s negligence caused the accident. For instance, the victim may be able to prove that the person who caused the accident was not driving safely, and it was because of his or her actions that the accident occurred. Things such as the speed that the car was traveling or the use of alcohol by the driver are factors that might show negligence.
The time following a car accident can be very difficult for those involved. An experienced attorney can help to guide the victim through this difficult time.
